Hi! 👋 My name is Alex and I’m a writer from the Netherlands. Ever since the early days of my internet adventure, I’ve been trying to keep a blog alive. Usually by rebuilding it every few months and convincing myself that this time, it will definitely stick.

I like tinkering with code and creating my own websites, perhaps even more than actually blogging. Still, I’m a writer at heart.

Writings

I believe the internet should be a more positive place, so I mostly write about the things that bring me joy. Movies and TV shows I watch, games I try to be good at but fail at horribly, books I can’t put down at night, LEGO, tech and whatever else happens to take over my brain that week. Check out some of my favorites.

Offline life

I live in the Netherlands with my girlfriend fiancée and our four cats: Númenor, Dixie, Nacho and Pixel. Yes, four. They run the house, but they’re kind enough to let us live there too.

To pay for all my LEGO, I work in IT for the government. It mostly involves systems, problem-solving and trying to make digital things slightly less frustrating.

I also play football, or soccer depending on where you are, and padel. Not always well, but with decent enthusiasm.

One blog, two types of posts

I’ll be posting two types of posts:

• Blogs // Regular blog posts. Longer, more thoughtful pieces on a wide range of subjects.
• Microposts // Tiny posts for quick thoughts, small updates and the kind of things I would normally post on Threads or Bluesky. I like the idea of keeping those little thoughts on my own site too.
